Bunk Bed with Futon

How To Create The Coolest Kids Room With A Bunk Bed With Futon

If your kid wants a super cool room then you should look at a bunk bed with futon. Kitting out a kids room is great fun, and it is a time to let yours and your child’s imagination run wild; create something that is practical and they will love. It is important to consult with your child, however young they are, because then they will feel a part of the process and will be much more enthusiastic about it.

From a parents point of view a room has to have good sleeping arrangements, and that includes catering for friends. Suitable furniture for their clothes and toys, this has to be easy for them to keep tidy. There also has to be a desk or table for homework and arts and crafts. But most importantly it has to be appealing enough for them to want to spend their time there.

The bunk bed with futon idea is a great way to maximise the space you have, while still creating a fun environment. The three most popular designs are explained below.

1. Bunk bed with double futon underneath. If this is in the ‘folded away’ position then you have a bed on top and a sofa underneath. This is great for creating a reading space and giving them a comfortable sofa is important for revising as well.
2. The bunk bed with single futon and desk. This is great for small rooms. It basically has a bed on the top and underneath is a single seat, which pulls out into a single bed, and next to the seat is a compact desk.
3. The bunk bed with futon and storage. This comes in various different styles. I think the most practical arrangement is to have mostly drawers, and maybe some shelves for books or toys. This means that you can choose a separate desk or table to fit the remaining space in the room.

Within these styles there are many different options, for example the materials used and the arrangement and placing of the steps. On the whole the metal style beds tend to have more upright steps, so if you are looking for easy to climb stairs it may be worth considering the wooden frames. Some wooden frames even have the stairs at the end which are not much steeper than the average staircase, with extra storage underneath them, this can be the safest option for younger children.

Before making any decisions it is important to fully understand the space you have and the size of the furniture when at its maximum. The first option is fairly easy to calculate, but with the second and third options it is worth remembering that the lower futon extends at a right angle to the bed on top so this requires an ‘L’ shade of space, without any doors or access points getting blocked.

Finally, don’t forget to get some new and funky bed linen to finish off your new bunk bed with futon.
